I am delighted to announce that our Summer Courses 2026 programme is now live on our website.
We are pleased to offer another rich and varied range of Teacher Professional Learning (TPL) opportunities, carefully selected to support you in developing new skills, exploring fresh approaches to learning and teaching, and returning to your classroom in September 2026 feeling energised and inspired.
All summer courses are fully EPV approved and, as in previous years, places fill up quickly. I would strongly encourage you to visit our website at your earliest convenience to browse the full programme and secure your place.
We have worked hard to put together a summer programme that is both relevant and practical, and I very much hope you will find something that meets your needs and interests.
I hope you all enjoyed a well-deserved rest over the Easter break. As we return to our schools and classrooms, I want to take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary work being done by post primary teachers, SNAs, school management teams and school communities across our Cork catchment area.
Cork ESC is committed to advocating for and providing leadership and support to post primary schools at local, regional and national level. In this period of significant curricular and policy reform, the professional demands on teachers and school leaders have never been greater, and our commitment to walking alongside you in that work has never been stronger. Through our programmes and supports, we aim to inspire and equip educators to create inclusive, engaging and future focused learning environments for every student across Cork and beyond.
Seamus Heaney, perhaps our greatest modern Irish voice, wrote that "even if the hopes you started out with are dashed, hope has to be maintained." There is something in that which speaks directly to the experience of teaching — the resilience it demands, the belief it requires, and the quiet courage it takes to show up every day for the young people in your care.
As we move into the final term of the school year, I want to assure you of our continued commitment to providing the highest quality professional learning and support. Our team remains available to your schools, and I encourage principals and teachers alike to reach out to us as you navigate the opportunities and challenges of this important period in Irish education.
Thank you for your dedication, your professionalism and your care for the young people you teach. It is a privilege to support you in that work.
I hope you all enjoyed a restful and happy Easter with family and friends. As we return refreshed, I am struck once again by the energy and commitment that defines our school communities across our Cork catchment area.
Cork ESC advocates for and provides leadership and support to local schools across our catchment, grounded in our shared vision of high quality, contextual professional learning at local, regional and national level. In this era of significant curricular and policy reform, that work has never felt more important. Through it, we aim to inspire and equip educators to create inclusive, engaging and future focused learning environments for every learner, underpinned by our commitment to lifelong learning, professional growth and educational excellence.
As W.B. Yeats reminded us, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." That is what drives us here at Cork ESC every day.
I am truly delighted to announce the launch of our Summer Courses 2026, going live on Monday 13th April at 9.00am. Our programme offers a wide range of EPV approved Teacher Professional Learning courses designed to inspire creative and practical teaching and learning. Places are limited and early booking is strongly recommended. https://www.cesc.ie/cpd-courses/search-result.html?category_id=7&layout=table
We are proud to introduce three new courses this summer to the centre. Everyday Autism Strategies for Schools with Claire Droney M.Ed offers essential practical guidance for schools supporting autism. MFL Spanish with Julia Collins responds to the introduction of Modern Foreign Languages under the new Primary Curriculum Framework, equipping teachers to bring Spanish to life in schools. Leading Gaelic Games in the Primary School is a blended GAA course delivered through the GAA TOBAR portal, across three online days and two days at a Cork City GAA venue.
The full course list went live on our website and social media at 9.00am today. I encourage every primary teacher in our catchment to explore the programme and book early.
Thank you, as always, for the dedication you bring to the children and communities you serve. It is a privilege to walk alongside you in that work.
