Delivered in person by Dr Pauline Cogan, this in-person session will involve training in the administration of the most reliable test open to Primary and Post-Primary school teachers.

Score booklet will be available for attendees.  Participants that  may have access to a whole WIAT-III-T test kit please bring it along. 

This test is highly reliable and is the same test for literacy tests that psychologists use. Participants will be brought through various exercises such as:
1. Determining an examinee’s age
2. Start and discontinue points for a test
3. How to score tasks
4. Determining standard and percentile scores
5. How to do a running record
6. When and how to regress to earlier age material
7. How to identify weaknesses for intervention

Bio Pauline Cogan, PhD, is a Chartered Psychologist and expert in literacy development. A native of Dungarvan, she trained as a primary teacher and later earned an MSc in Neurolinguistics and a PhD from Trinity College Dublin. Her career spans teaching, research, and clinical work in Europe, focusing on language, learning difficulties, and brain injury rehabilitation. Pauline developed TEST2r, a screening tool for early literacy skills, and serves on national and international bodies promoting educational inclusion.

This course will take place face-to-face in the Cork Education Support Centre.

Fee includes lunch and Score Booklet (Record Form).

 

Attendees should bring the WIAT-III Kit if they have one. This is available for purchase from ETC CONSULT and OUTSIDE THE BOX LEARNING or other publishing companies.

Attendees should bring a pencil and eraser to the training.

Attendees will need to have the kit OR have access on the afternoon to the Record Form in which scores are entered and converted to standard and percentile scores, CESC will provide the Record Form on the afternoon for those that require one.
